Ian Charles

Ian Charles Director - Information Solutions

Ian joined L-3 ASA in September 2009 to manage the UK IBS programme. Prior to this he was responsible for the successful delivery of critical CIS programmes for the MoD at Abbey Wood. A qualified mechanical and electrical engineer Ian has extensive experience of successfully managing technical and non-technical teams within different workplace environments. He was promoted to Director Information Solutions in May 2010 and is the main focal point for L-3 ASA Bids and Proposals.

Colette Parks

Colette Parks Business Development Director, Communications and Information Systems

Colette joined L-3 ASA in October 2010 as Business Development Director for Communication and Information Systems. Her role involves leading Business Development for the Transportation sector, coordinating Sales within the Communication and Information Systems area and leading marketing for L-3 ASA. The majority of Colette’s career has been spent working in Satellite Communications and Inflight Entertainment Solutions for Commercial Airlines. Companies worked for include BT, Stratos and lastly Arinc in the position of Business Director of Satellite Solutions, working with key accounts including Emirates Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, Cathay Pacific and Swiss Airlines. She has a proven track record of delivering cutting edge solutions, including a number of world firsts to the Aviation market.

Steve Erskine

Steve Erskine Director Communications and Information Systems

Steve is a Director in Communications and Information Systems (CIS), a post he took up in April 2011. He started his career in ICT at Ordnance Survey where he progressed from being a technical support officer, through design and programming into project management. This culminated in the role of IT and Production Director in 2000. In 2005 Steve moved to a Home Office agency as Director of ICT which transitioned into a wider integrated service management role in late 2006. His responsibilities included ICT, FM, logistics, service centres and health and safety. In addition to his work at L-3 ASA Steve is also a Non Executive Director at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust.

Andrew Bostock

Andrew Bostock Director Business Development (US Comms)

Andrew joined L-3 ASA in February, 2011. His focus is developing/promoting networking and communications programs that contain L-3 ASA products and derivatives directly to military organizations as well as to system level prime contractors. Prior to joining L-3 ASA Andrew worked as a Director of Business Development for Thales Communications, Inc., and served as an Account Manager with Photocircuits Corporation. Andrew graduated Norwich University a B.S.E.E. in 1988 and served as a communication officer in the Marine Corps until 1997. He served multiple tours inducing; combat durty during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm and duty with the United Nations as director of Field Mission Communications and Logistics. Andrew earned a M.B.A. with honors from Norwich University in June 2009.

Alistair Hamer-Philip

Alistair Hamer-Philip Director Land

Alistair joined ASA in January 2012, on leaving the Army after 28 years where he held a number of Regimental Appointments was Chief of Staff of the UK’s only Air Defence Brigade and attended the Army Command Staff Course.  For the last 10 years, his career has focussed primarily upon Defence Acquisition and in particular on Capability Management where he has served in Whitehall, London as the lead on Equipment Capability Protection and as the Capability Sponsor for all the UK Ground Based Air Defence programmes.  This latter area involved close management and responsibility for the Land Environment Air Picture Provision programme (LEAPP), the Network Enabled Airspace Defence and Surveillance programme (NEADS), Urgent Operational Requirements for Op TELIC/HERRICK as well as the High Velocity Missile system, Rapier and the Future Local Area Air Defence Land (FLAADS(L) programmes.

Karen Saunders

Karen Saunders Head of Administration and Human Resources

Karen joined L-3 ASA in March 2009 as Office Manager and Executive Assistant to the President and has recently taken on the role of H.R Manager. Her career started at a cable installation company (GDC) where she progressed from Office Junior to setting up a sales team. Subsequent moves took her to a start up company (Integrated Systems), where she joined the sales team, selling fractal compression. Karen also held the position of Customer Order Management Supervisor at MicroFocus, a Software House. Prior to joining L-3 ASA Karen worked in Telecommunications for Avaya as the EMEA Sales Operations Manager, supporting the sales teams to ensure they achieved sales targets and enhanced customer relationships. Her career has been focussed on people which made for a natural progression into Human Resources.

Del Grice

Del Grice Financial Controller

Del Grice was appointed Financial Controller of L-3 ASA in 2010, and has overall responsibility for the company’s Finance, Accounting and Project Management Office functions. Del joined ASA in 1996 to establish the company’s Project Management Office and has over twenty years experience in Project Management & Support and Project Accounting. Prior to joining ASA, Del was involved in supporting numerous technical programmes within the defence and commercial security & fire detection industries in the Project Office of the Thorn EMI Electronics Group. Del’s involvement in the financial aspects of the acquisition of ASA by the L-3 Communications Group in 2006 led to his transition into the wider finance area and subsequent appointment to his current role.

Ted Blundell

Ted Blundell Facilities Manager, Security and Ethics Officer

Ted is Facilities Manager, Security and Ethics Officer and has been with ASA since 1989, bringing together over 40 years experience in quality, facilities and security management. His career began in electronic engineering, working in the UK Defence and Commercial Industries, and also in Canada. During the mid-1970s to late-1980s he transitioned between electronic engineering and quality engineering; this culminated in the role of Operations Manager for ASA in 1993. Ted added Ethics Officer to his portfolio after ASA became a division of L-3 Communications in 2006. In 2011 Ted decided to give up his Operations Manager/Quality Manager role and go part time. Ted is a Chartered Quality Practitioner and a Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology.

Sue Turner

Sue Turner Quality Manager

Sue is L-3 ASA’s Quality Manager having joined the company in 2005 as a Quality Engineer. She started as a Software Engineer at Marconi Underwater Systems and after 6 years transitioned to their Quality Department. Subsequent roles took her to EASAMS and to Anite Systems where she set up an ISO 9001-compliant Quality System for their Travel Division. She also worked as a Consultant at the Defence Research Agency, Intervention Board, Met Office and the European Commission. Sue’s final move before L-3 ASA took her to Triaster, a small software company, to implement their Professional Services group.
